My favorite books usually incude some aspect of food, mystery & travel, so I really enjoy "culinary mysteries" as they usually combine all those aspects. I've read the gamut of the most popular ones through the years, including Diane Mott Davison, Nancy Pickard, Tamar Myers, etc.etc. Just wondered what others might recommend, as I'm due for another "fix" at the library & book store this week! ;)

Currently these have been on my most enjoyable list:

Temple, Lou Jane - Heaven Lee, K.C. Cafe Owner/Caterer Series
McKevett, G. A. - Savannah Reid, Police Det. turned P.I. Series
Richman, Phyllis C. - Chas Wheatley Food Critic Series
Farmer, Jerrilyn - The Madeline Bean Catering Series
Albert, Susan Wittig - China Bayles Herb Farm/Tea Room Series

I especially love when recipes are included, and have actually tried a few, with success! (Lou Jane Temple has some really killer ones) :o

So, what do y'all recommend? Thanks!

I have enjoyed the Hannah Swensen series by Joanne Fluke. There are some great cookie recipes in them.

I've read many of the Diane Mott Davidson books (like some of the recipes too!) -- usually I save these books to take along to read on airplanes, in hotels, etc........as you don't have to concentrate much on them.

I have read Tamar Myers and Phyllis Richmond - but not familiar with the others mentioned. Made a note and will check them out as time permits.

A friend just gave me a copy of Nina Killham's HOW TO COOK A TART - and I've read 3 or 4 chapters. Not sure if I'll finish it or not. Maybe this is because I'm home and not traveling! Or maybe its just not for me!
