Well - it seems that DH and I WON'T be traveling to Cancun for our 20th wedding anniversary as I was expecting next week because of a little storm named Wilma. Got an email notification from our hotel that it was completely destroyed and they probably will not be repairing it - counting their losses and leaving. PLUS the airport in Cancun is open only for evacuation and relief purposes. The terminal itself was greatly damaged and currently the airlines that are able to have set up temporary shop in a local university.

And to think all I've been worried about was when to go NOT IF!!!!

So, once again we have dropped back 10 and are punting. We've decided to stay in the States and are taking a driving vacation. We are driving from Kentucky to Gatlinburg, to Atlanta, to New York, to Boston and then on to Washington, DC. (I think).

This has been a CRAZY year for travel but at least we get to celebrate our anniversary!!!

Sorry about your cancelled trip to Cancun. That Wilma did alot of damage down there. We know this area very well and have reports of tremendous damage to the resorts. I can imagine there will be quite a few hotels that will not be able to make it back after this one. Pictures are just unreal, escpecially from Cozumel. But do plan on making a trip later. We have never stayed in the hotel zone but choose a quieter area down the road-Playa del Carmen. Might want to check it out.

Your driving vacation sounds great though. You will love Gatlinburg and do check out the Smithsonian in DC.

Have fun!

When will you be taking your trip? New England has much to offer. What about doing the coasts of Maine and New Hampshire or the White Mountains of New Hampshire?

sorry to hear about your setback but sounds like you have the right attitude, as long as you are together & having fun that makes the trip. :)

Sometimes things happen for reasons unknown. There have been times when I was tremendously disappointed in something not working out but the alternative turned out to be fabulous. Maybe this will be the case for you, too. :)
