I know this may not be a big deal to many of you but for 20 years, 4 people in this house have "managed" with 1 toilet. Even though the rest of the new bathroom isn't hooked up to the water supply hubby did get the toilet done. The best part is it's a master bath so I won't even have to leave my bedroom & go down the hall. Once everything is hooked up I will just be beside myself with happiness. We are at the tail end of a major renovation since April 1st. Only this bathroom to finish, the backsplash to be put in the kitchen and a new carport with slab and metal roof. It's been pretty rough at times. THANK YOU JESUS for bringing us thru all of this in one piece.

Well, congratulations!! I know how you feel. We always had 2 toilets, but only one tub/shower combination. We managed to get baths everynight using just the one tub. After both our sons were grown and gone did we manage to put in another whole bath. My husband always used to shave in the little 1/2 bath in the utility room. We were always "planning" our master bath, only something always got in the way--$$$ I think though if we had of had 2 daughters, instead of our boys, that we would have gotten around to it a whole lot sooner. But you know, it's amazing how people now a days think that each person in a household has to have their own bathroom, but when I was growing up,you were just glad that you "had" a bathroom, much less 2 or more.
Nevertheless, just enjoy your "retreat"!! :) :) :)

It's torture going through a renovation! It sounds like it's almost finished and I know you're happy!!!

We only have one bathroom with a pedestal sink. It's tiny. We play "musical bathroom time".

Thanks y'all. I just can't believe how changed this house is with some renovations, updates, additions and elbow grease. It's truly a blessing. The WHOLE house was DARK panelling and dark vinyl floors and dark stained cabinets. We made it 20 years the way it was and could have continued but the beginning of it all was the floors. They were falling apart. I couldn't even swiffer anymore. I was just in such a funk. Then we started talking, drawing plans, discussing budget and we did that it seems like forever. Finally we took the plunge and borrowed the money and got it started and there was no turning back:
1.)24' x 24' carport got closed in (that roof had been built as part of the main roof cause we always planned to close it in since 1985)and made into large living room, dining room and large walk-in storage closet. All painted toasted almond.Table used to be in my 11 1/2 ' x 14' kitchen. Barely room to move around.
2.)kitchen cabinet boxes went from DARK stain to painted white and new doors and drawer fronts from Lowe's put on in Sanibel Maple. New laminate counter tops from light beigy tan to cobalt blue marble look. Walls painted Brilliant Jade changed from the old DARK panelling.
3.)Old Master bedroom split in half- made into large walk-in closet (seafoam green color) and master bathroom (painted dusty blue color). Both have black and white checked vinyl flooring.
4.)Old living room became new master bedroom. Painted old DARK panelling toasted almond. Installed laminate wood flooring
5.) Front entry porch built.
6.)New white vinyl siding installed and ALL new windows thruout the house. Had just done new architectural shingle roof a couple of years ago due to wind damage.
7.) when new bath is complete we will paint and update old bathroom. It's getting the same cabinet doors as kitchen and boxes painted white.
The main thing was new commercial vinyl flooring thruout the new addition, kitchen, 2 halls, utility room. Only rooms untouched are 2 sons bedrooms and utility room. Utility room might get painted next summer. Thinking of a buttery soft yellow. Younger son's room we will install a huge wall mural we bought of the New York skyline at night on one whole wall. The other walls will be covered in metal flashing that you get in rolls. Older son's room he can have input if he's here long enough (college 2nd year).
So we're thanking God that that we could get all of this done.

Your renovations sound wonderful! I'm sure your son will have the coolest room on the block.

Congratulations on nearing the end! It is funny how we "used" to get by with what we had, but now we have such different expectations.
