So, tonight is my turn to host my supper club. I sent invitations via Pingg three weeks ago. I know everyone received their invitations (nice feature, Pingg), and I have yet to hear from one of the couples. How hard is it to just check the box to say you are not coming? It irritates me even more because this same couple "forgot" it was their turn a couple months back. Unreal! Why belong to a club that you don't participate in?
Anyway, it is going to be a lovely evening. The weather looks like it will hold for us today (always the possibility of an afternoon shower). I have everything ready and am as calm as I have ever been when hosting a party.
Hope you all have a great day!

I got a Pingg invitation recently. It was so simple & fast to RSVP...one click from the email & it was done. I didn't even have to go to the actual invite to respond. I got a confirmation email on my RSVP immediately.
I did get a few chuckles over this particular Pingg invite though...
I open my email & see a Pingg invite & a Pingg reminder. I glance at the date/time the emails arrived in my inbox & see the hostess sent them simultaneously. I thought...weird timing to send the reminder with the invite. It could be a goof, but the hostess is a pretty sarcastic person. She is probably just letting everyone know that she is going to be peeved if people get slack & don't RSVP in a timely manner.
I open the 2 emails. Invite email: party is Jun 13 @ 7. Reminder email: "Don't forget to RSVP! by Jun 13 @ 7." I thought...this is even more weird. It all has to be a mistake & she must be frazzled.
I RSVP the next day. We find this hostess an unpleasant person to be around sometimes. We decide to opt out. I also call to say we wouldn't make it.
She tells the RSVP date/time was intentional. I was plenty  by that. She rants: She had a party a 2 wks ago. Everyone invited to that party, is also invited to this one, plus a few more people. Her previous party Pingg results were (10 invites): 2 RSVP'ed on time. 2 never RSVP'ed: 1 showed, 1 didn't. The remaining 6 RSVP'ed on THE DAY of the event that they were coming. She's still sooo steamed & is sending an intentionally sarcastic "message". She didn't really care if it made them mad, b/c she was still mad. Can't say I blame her at all for being angry, but...yikes.
I was so glad I took care of my RSVP & call within 24 hours. I was even more glad that we had wisely opted not to go. Little did we know how right-on our judgement call was going to be. On her good days, we find the hostess abrasive. No way would we want to endure the smack that she is likely to dole out in our presence, if things go badly with the RSVP process again. I'm sure you gather by now that she's not the type to let it go, or to handle it privately & minimize the offenders embarrassment. Whew! We really dodged the bullet this time!:D
Congrats on having everything under wraps & not having to scurry around today. What a good feeling to have on "party day". Hope goes well & y'all have a wonderful evening!:)

Wow! I hope I don't come across like your hostess friend, Luckydog. :o Keep in mind, I use this board to vent...
It turned out to be a great party. Everyone stayed late and enjoyed each others company. We had a ton of food left over so some came back yesterday for lunch!

Wonderful! Sounds like it was a smashing success!
And oh no, heck no!!!!! SD. You did not come across like my pingg invite hostess. at all. I just couldn't help but share the experience since it had just happened to me this past week, involved Pingg, and it was a pretty humorous (and ) example of RSVP venting gone wrong. It's just the girl's everyday personality. It doesn't take much to set her off & once she is, everyone in her vicinity is subjected to her bad mood...which is not my idea of a fun time at a party. I am still sitting here shaking my head at the whole thing & thinking how incredibly glad I am that I went with my initial gut instinct & opted to send my regrets, johnny on the spot. I keep hoping one day she's gonna go on some meds & rewrite her persona.:D

Glad to share! It was a wonderul, wonderful party...
My guest started trickling in around 6:00 pm. Some broght appetizers, some brought desserts. DH loaded them all onto our pontoon boat for a cocktail cruise while I stayed behind and grilled chickens with a honey glaze. I also concoted a new potato and asparagus dish, cooked some yellow rice and sliced some fresh beer bread I had made earlier in the day. I also put out some red grapes and gorgonzola. When everyone got in, we all fixed our plates and sat on the porches and ate. People stayed late and we had wonderful conversation by candlelight. I couldn't have asked for better weather or for my flowers to have looked better. Great night!
