What's your favorite brand of tea?
** Luzianne
How much sugar do you use per gallon?
** 1 1/2 cups - sometimes more
We like it strong and sweet! :)

Don't really have a fave brand. As long as it's de-caf. The way we drink tea I'd never sleep if it was regular. I put about 1 1/2 cups of sugar to a gallon. If it's family size bags the kind with the string/tag, I use 3 maybe 4. The big rectangular one 2-3.

I make tea by the 1/2 gallon pitcher, but I'll convert my answers to what I use per gallon for comparison with y'all. (A pitcher is a 1/2 gallon right?:confused: It's early. My brain is not running at full capacity yet this morning. I'm so NOT a morning person.)
Luzianne.
Per gallon:
6-8 FAMILY size bags. I like it really strong! You should see my morning coffee! It's practically motor oil. :D Just one cup is all it takes to have me humming...get your motor running! Da-da,-da-da-DA! I'd love to have more than 1 cup, but I'd be bouncing off the walls & I just hate to drink it weaker. Ditto on the sweet tea. I love it strong, but I can't drink a lot of it. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
2 cups sugar, if we're in the mood for super sweet; 1 cup is the least that I can muster using, if I'm trying to lighten the calories. Usually I use an amount in between...happy medium.

Since we are both having to keep our blood sugars down, we aren't using tea as in the past. I've switched to Crystal lite (which isn't nearly as good) and that is what we use most of the time. If I brew tea I use Luzianne and drink it with no sugar. I thought I would never get used to it without sugar, but really do like it. I make mine quite strong and use crushed ice.

I also use Luzianne but I use 1-1/2- 2 cups sugar for a gallon and we go through at least two gallons of tea a day.

If I make my tea a little stronger, I use closer to 2 c. of sugar, too - I start with 1 1/2 c. and taste; add more if needed. My family really prefers it with more sugar - I am always trying to cut it back some. ;)
This summer, I have been using half decaf. bags and half regular bags to cut back on the caffeine some. It's good that way.

Have you tried Splenda? I know some people don't like it or can't use it. But every once in a while I'll sneak some in on my bunch and they can't tell. Will even do half sugar/half Splenda.

I use Splenda all the time in our tea. My family likes it pretty good. I used it the other day in a sweet potato casserole with a streusal topping and they raved over it. We use Lipton Decaf.

I don't mind the taste of Splenda, but it leaves a "slippery" feel in my mouth that I don't like.

Luziane tea and 1 1/4 cup sugar.
Sometimes, I'll add one tea bag of green tea to the others for the antioxidents.

I forgot, sometimes when DD makes tea, she will throw in one bag of a fruit tea. Very good in the summer!

My husband and our two children drink a gallon a day. Lipton is our favorite brand. I use the gallon size tea bag and then put 1 1/2 and a little pinch of sugar.

I just make two gallons for today - one for the day, then one to have for supper tonight. We are having friends over, so I may have to make another gallon. :) I used 1/2 regular and 1/2 decaf. tea bags so we can drink it late in the day. ;)

When I was little my parents used a brand of tea thats grown in charleston. You used to be able to buy it in the grocery stores in Columbia but now the only time I can find it is if I am in Charleston. My husband and I now use Luizanne. I use 1 cup of sugar per gallon. DH cant have alot of sugar and he cant use Splenda. My oldest son usually adds more sugar to his tea after he pours it in his glass.
Opps forgot to add that we use 4 family size tea bags per gallon.

Instead of coffee for breakfast Dad will make a cup of green tea. He normally doesn't sweeten his. I've gotten to where I can drink it that way. He'll also make a gallon of it and he puts sacarrin (?) tablets in it. (I'd rather have sugar or splenda:rolleyes:)
