I don't know about the rest of you but I'm finding it very difficult carving out time to read this year. Usually this time of year I'm able to sit down for a little while and read to my hearts content, albeit late at night but this year - NOT! I've got a stack of books that I'm dying to get in to and just can't seem to get there. Oh well - maybe the new year will have me able to bed down with a great book and some coffee a little more often.

luvmyhunny - Thank you. I thought it was just me.
I'm wondering where the time goes, why can I not get to that gorgeous stack of new books beckoning to me? I used to love to read at night, but now after one minute I'm sound asleep. I don't read during the day, too much to do, and when I want to relax, I pop in here!
That may be the answer - shut down the computer! :D Just kidding.
I was thinking the same thing - after the holidays, just take a night or two to leave the t.v. off, grab a cup of hot chocolate and get into a good book.
That was one of my favorite things to do in life many moons ago.
Good luck getting to your books. Let us know what you're reading when you get into them.

Thank you for posting this. I cannot remember the last time I sat down to read a book. I have been reading things but it is all work related.
Today I bought the book "Redbird's Christmas" and I hope to start reading it tonight.
I have been so busy with the holidays and taking on a number of volunteer projects, that reading, unless it was work related, fell to the wayside.

I always make time to read, even if it's just a couple of pages. I take a book with me wherever I go because I figure there will be a few moments that can be snatched here or there -- e.g. standing in line. I always read before going to sleep, and when I catch myself reading the same paragraph for the third time, I realise it's time to put out the light. :D

That's pretty much the way I am too. I'm currently reading the first of the Elm Creek Quilts series (The Quilter's Apprentice), but I have a huge stack of to-be-reads that I really need to dig into.
My resolution for 2006 is to carve out more reading time! :)

I LOVE the Elm Creek Quilts series. Did you know there is a new Christmas book out for that series too? Don't read it yet though if you haven't read the rest of the books, because some of the info refers back to the previous books. My mother-in-law breezed through them all too and is now reading the Christmas one.

No, I didn't know that, but I'm sure the friend that lent me the first book will eventually have it (and then later on ...I'll have it). I love series books.

I started reading on my lunch hour at work. Now I am reading while I work! For some reason, my company doesn't mind their customer service people reading in between phone calls. I read 2 1/2 books this past week as we have been kinda slow. Don't ask me where I work but it is a huge food service company. (Don't want to ruin a good thing)I have been reading a lot of Iris Johansen, they are quick and good reading.

Bless their hearts!!! And lucky you! When I was in elementary school I used to read my own books by hiding them inside an open textbook. ;)
