As a child, I had a device that was used to make potholders. It was square, metal, and had prongs on the sides to weave loops to make the potholders. I'm not good at descriptions! Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if so, are these devices still available?

As far as I know, they are still available, but these days they're made out of plastic (what isn't?). You should be able to get one (generally in a kit with the loops you use to make the potholder) at a craft shop, educational toy shop, hobby shop, possibly even Wally World.

A potholder loom! I just bought one for my grandaughter for Christmas. It's red metal...just like the one I had! I ordered it from "Hearthsong"

I saw the same thing in Hearthsong -- they have great products!

You might look in Target. They have a little section around the stationary area that has kits for kids. You might find one there.

I haven't seen a loom in years. So, I looked up the company, mentioned.

You will also find the loom and two different bags of material loops (thick &
Thin) at Wal Mart. The loom is plastic. All in the craft section. :)

Sorry I'm just responding. I'll try Target and Wal-Mart today. If I don't find it there, I'll go to Michael's and HobbyLobby. Thanks y'all. I thought they had stopped making them.

I can't believe that they still make them!!! My sister and I used to make loads of potholders using the metal looms and annoy the neighbors by selling them for spending money!!! I think we used to sell for .10 a piece or .15 if they were 'custom ordered'... I'll have to look at WallyWorld and see if I can find... need some new potholders!!!!!

Brings back good memories! Now I want to go make some! Maybe I can talk my stepdaughter into doing them with me! :D

I was just looking this weekend at a catalog I received from Patternworks and they sell them. Here is a link to their website. I've purchased from them once and was very pleased with their service.

I don't know if you've gotten one of these already or not, but I have a brand new unopened kit that I will be happy to send you if you'd like. I found them at Cracker Barrel a few years ago and bought a couple of kits for my nieces. We used one kit, but never opened the other and they are a little old for them now. The kit has a white plastic loom, a hook, tons of the colored loops and instructions.

If you want it, just PM me your address and I'll send it out on Wed. when I go to the post office :)
