My cousin's DD is getting married in June (in Lebanon, TN) and we are considering driving up for the wedding. If so we will spend a couple of extra days bumming around Nashville. If you had 2 days to spend (with a 9 y/o child), what would you do in Nashville? :) Thanks.

Well, I would stay at the Opryland Hotel for sure. I think you 9 year old would like it. Check out their website.

Hi Missi, Nashville is a great city to visit and live; although, I have not lived there yet!! Your 9 year old would likely enjoy touring the Parthenon that has been renovated/refreshed in the past few years. We were there about 2 years ago and it was great. I recommended it to a friend who homeschools her girls and they loved it and plan to go again. Her youngest daughter is near your child's age. It is a great place to take a camera and make pictures of family members in front of the huge statues. Staying in the Opryland Hotel is a treat, but it is an enormous hotel and pricey. ( I was there in November for a conference and the beauty of the Christmas decorations is incredible.) Our reservations were made weeks in advance and they didn't fullfill them as reserved. We often have stayed in the Embassy Suites off Elm Hill Pike, which is near the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills. Lebanon is a nice small town and near Gallatin, also small. In the Nashville area there are many old historic homes to tour and hear about life of the bygone times. When my son was young, he loved the historic places. PM me with more details about what you child enjoys and I will check with a friend who recently moved away. If kids love it, she knows where it is.

FanFair is June 8-11 this year. If the wedding is near that date, you need to get reservations tonight!! It fills up fast.

Thanks so much eHelen. Actually, the wedding is later in the month of June - I can't remember the date, but it's at the end of the month, around the 24th or 25th. :)

I again Missi, Nurse Betty in Bama here. Got your PM about your Smoky Mountain plans in December. I hope ya'll got to go this time.
We loved staying in downtown Nashville and walking the music clubs at night. This probably won't be a good idea with your 9 year old but this is a must when you might go back in the future.

eHelen,
Thanks for the tip on Embassy Suites, Nashville.
My husband's birthday was this weekend and I "kidnapped" him and took him to Nashville for a surprise get-away. Our stay could not have been any better.

You're quite welcome! Gosh this is an old post, glad you found it and that you had fun. Did you go to the Opry?

We were there so much one year that it began to feel like home! Did you bump into any country music stars? The Statlers were there more one once when we were. It was where they stayed when in town for their show taping.

Did you know when you were there that Chappy's from Long Beach, Mississippi, has opened on Church Street? Are you from the coast, CA? We lived there many years ago and love it!
