So being a huge fan of Sex in the City and most any HBO Original series, I was so excited to hear that they are coming out with a new one called, Big Love (I think...) A friend of mine was telling me a little bit about it and it sounds a lot like a cross between Deperate and Six Feet, which I am sooo excited about. Has anyone else seen/heard anything about it? Please let me know, I'm looking EVERYWHERE!!

Martha there is an article about the show in the March Playboy and it's gotten a good review. I might watch it.
We get Playboy because my daughter ordered merchandise from the clothing catalog and got a free subscription. That's why I saw the article.

Haha, thanks for answering the obvious question...I wasn't going to ask. It's funny b/c they actually do have some interesting arcticles ( who'd of thought??)
A girlfriend of mine actually went to dinner at this awesome resturant in NY and at the end of the meal the waiter brought out these four little chocolates that read "his" "Hers" "hers" and "hers" -- and it was a promo for Seyfried's new show. I thought that was the cutest thing ever.

I copied and pasted:
"He has three wives who willingly share him between
their three adjoining houses, but Bill Henrickson is
about to find out just how challenging life as a
modern-day polygamist can be. Don't miss the bold new series that Time magazine says "may prove to be... the
next cool thing on TV." Starring Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin and Harry Dean Stanton. Airing Sundays at 10pm beginning
March 12th, immediately following Season Six of
The Sopranos®. Check out the online schedule for listings"

Anyone?? I saw last night's episode and I thought it was the best yet. Roman scares me so much. I just can't believe how evil he is! There is so much ambiguity that the writers leave us to wonder about, I just love what is going to unravel!!

My husband and I watched part of this show the other night. I thought it was okay, but honestly, I have my doubts that it will last. The whole concept of polygamy is fascinating to me and that's what intrigued me about the show. Now, I've never known anyone involved in polygamy so I can't say for sure whether it would really work or not but, based on what I saw on the show, it just seemed very unrealistic to me. I even looked on the show's website and read the background info on all the characters and it's just very hard for me to buy into it (from a believability standpoint, I'm saying). It is an interesting basis for a show, I just don't personally feel that most people would relate at all. And for me, after the intrigue of the situation started to wear off, it just wasn't that catchy.

I understand where you are coming from, but I really think this is the type of show that you have to tune into regularly to appreciate. Like the soprano's or Desprate Houseives, there are so many different dynamics going on and ambiguities the writers have left, that i see this season unfolding more and more. Most epople I have spoken to are enjoying every episode more than the last.
Althought the premise is that of a polygamist family, I willl say that it does not focus on the cliched aspects, but more the overall family dynamic. Just my opinion.

I like "Big Love", and I like it more each time I watch it. I think it's interesting to see another way of life, and in ways they aren't any different then us. I've meet a woman in a polygamist family when I lived in N.C., and she seemed to be quite happy. Come on, haven't you wished your husband had another wife to do, umm, laundry? ;) Or anything else you didn't feel like doing at the moment? :D I could never share my DH though, after 16 years, he's still the only one for just me! :D

I watched Big Love, really tried to like it, but I just couldn't get into it. I think the actors are good, but for some reason it just didn't grab me.
I have to admit that besides enjoying "Sex in the City" from HBO, I really like "Deadwood." Interesting characters and the dialogue is almost Shakespearean.
I have to be careful watching The Sopranos. If I watch it then go to sleep, I dream about 'dem guys all night! Ack!

I've liked the series from the beginning for some reason, but many of my friends felt the same way, that it took a bit befire they were grabbed...but I have found many of them have noted that the intricate storylines that have been laid out are keeping them coming back for more each week.
Have you been watching consistantly? It might be hard to get really hooked if you miss any of the little details that seem to be biulding into quite a story, just wondering.

By the way I thought I'd stop by and let everyone know that I just heard that Big ?Love has been officially picked up for a second season. I am so excited, b/c I honestly love the show more and more each week. A little strange sometimes, but that is what keeps me so intrigued!
Also, I found this link to a podcast for the show. I recently got inot podcasts and I just think they are the coolest things. My name is marthainthemaking....and I am addicted to podcasting...
