Idle curiosity at work here -- What kinds of books do you like to read? I will read just about anything that is put in front of me. In fact, I rarely have fewer than 3 books on the go, and I always have something to read with me (you never know when you're going to get stuck in a line somewhere or have to wait for someone...).
So, to name a few (in no certain order...):
classic novels
historical fiction
history
theology
detective/ crime
chick lit (aka mind candy... ;) )
auto/biography
so, what about yourselves?

When we lived overseas, I read CONSTANTLY - 3 or 4 books per week.
I read everything - from Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, John Grisham, Neil Patterson, - autobiographies, anything.
The tranquility of just sitting down with a good book is very theraputic for me. However, since moving back to the USA I don't seem to be able to get back into reading. Something I plan on working on.

Commercial fiction, some non-fiction --- particularly biography of historical figures, and magazines!
I do not like chick-lit very much. It seems insulting to me but maybe I just haven't found any well-written chick lit.

I enjoy historical fiction including prehistory, Native America, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, Authurian legend, Medieval, Rennaisance, Pioneer America, etc. Basically anything before 1900!
I have read some of the classics, but they often fit into the above catagory.
I also enjoy some fantasy and sci-fi. I read only a few authors and look for the meatier stuff. Have been reading Robert Jordan for years (will he ever finish his series?), Anne McCaffery since I was a pup, Tad Williams, etc.
I read very little modern setting lit, but recently read a Maeve Binchy book and loved it. Oh and I read Da Vinci Code, cause it was so popular.
I do not read mystery, crime, horror and the like.

My favorites are fiction, mysteries, and some non-fiction too (I like some of the business books, biographies, and autobiographies).
