Easter baskets

Do any of you have a neat idea for making Easter baskets for a first-grade class? Maybe something different than just the regular plastic milk containers..

I just went to Target and got cute buckets for .99 and then bought foam bunny faces and some foam to make bowties for the bunny. I will glue the bunnies on the buckets and write each one's name on it.

You can also make some cute "buckets" out of white 1-gallon milk jugs that have been 1/2 cut leaving the handle and painting pastel polka-dots on them.

I used to buy the plastic decorated Easter cups that hold maybe 12 oz. (they are like $.59/each at Party City but one sale lots of time for 3/$1.00) and fill those. I'd put grass in first, fill w/ treats, then tie up with colored cellophane and raffia for the ribbon.

This would be a little messy, but I remember someone making paper mache easter eggs by taking strips of newspaper and cover up a balloon. Once they are dry you paint them. You could still do that idea, but just make sure you leave the top open. to make the handles, you could put straws on the sides to leave small holes and then once it was dry thread ribbon through the holes.
