I have started my first pair of adult socks. Did some baby socks a few months ago for my neighbor. I am stuck on the heel part. I've had a lot going on and haven't had the time to really concentrate on it. I got the prettiest yarn when I was on vacation in Nags Head. It is self striping and is turning out really pretty.

Are or have any of you knitted socks?

I knit socks all the time. So far I've done 20 pair in two years.

If I can give you any help with that troublesome heel, let me know. But, you'll probably figure it out on your own. Like you said, it just takes a little time. :)

I LOVE that self-striping yarn. People think you are so creative when it's really "just the yarn". LOL

The pair I'm working on are on a size 2 needle. And the yarn is so thin it is a real pain to pull out. But, once my mind is more focused on it, I'll pick it back up.

That's all it will take --- time and patience. ;)

It's a shame you aren't here ....I'm a pro at ripping back these days. I swear I rip out more than I put in some days.

I am thinking about knitting my first pair. I'm reading the book-"A Good Yarn" by Debbie Macomber. Inside the cover there are 2 patterns one using double points and the other 2 circular needles size #1.

I am trying to finish my husband's sleeves. It's a winter sweater in lemon and mine will be in celery. The yarn is so nice it's from Bendigo Woolen Mills in Australia.

I really messed up I posted a question to myself, I would appreciate if anyone can help me with yardage from an old yarn company.

Has anyone received the fall "Knit Picks" catalog it's really nice.
I treated myself and bought the Debbie Bliss pattern book Cashmere Collection I want to make the bulky cardigan on the cover using one of the bulky yarns from Knit Picks

Sorry my post is soooo long

Have a nice day

I have just discovered Knit Picks and hope to put an order in with them soon. I want some of their dyeable yarn. That sounds so cool.

I just got my KnitPicks catalog in the mail today. I downloaded the pattern to make the Twisted Socks. Think I'll rip back what I have started on my plain sock and make the Twisted Socks.

I'm using Trampoline yarn, but it sounds very similar to the Dancing yarn they recommend with this pattern.

Also was looking at the new solid color knitting yarns. I may have to put in an order real soon. :D

When DH and I were first dating, I made him a pair of knee-high wool hunting socks. I think they were on size 6 needles. I've found that wooden needles are definitely easier for socks - they aren't as slippery and you aren't as prone to dropping stitches. Once you've worked through a heel, you'll wonder what you were so worried about -- they're really very easy & you'll do just fine, scbshell.

P.S. I gave him those socks for Christmas that year. He wore them once and his mother, not realizing they were wool, threw them in the washing machine in hot water with an underwear load. She felt just terrible about it and I don't know if they ever found a kindergartner to give them to!!
