I love San Antone!! Check out this.. thebeauregardhouse.com Great place to stay and has gotten very good reviews on www.tripadvisor.com.

* Check out the Alamo..it's free except for a small donation.
* Catch the trolley to El Mercado (it's a mexican shopping mall..very safe.
across the street are 2 great restaurants/bakery
* And you've got to do the Riverwalk. Lots of restaurants.
* Take a boat ride on the river-touristy but relaxing.

Thanks bevintexas!! I can't wait to go!!! We are staying at the Westin Riverwalk so I hope to spend a good amount of time shopping and dining around that area. I read about the river boat ride and will definitely check that out as well as the Alamo. SL had a couple recommendations for dining. Have you ever tried Boudro's or the Guenther House?

We've eaten at Boudro's and it was very good. I remember that the guacamole was yummy-they fix it at your table. Haven't tried the Guenther House. I know you will have fun!

You have to eat at Mi Tiara's - it's so wonderful. Very authentic tex-mex!! And they have a bakery in their lobby that has all sorts of pralines and Mexican sweet breads. They are near the Mercado.
San Antonio is such a fun place. We love it there. The Riverwalk is fun. Dirty Nelly's is a Piano Bar on the Riverwalk that we enjoy - great atmosphere!!!
You should have a really fun time there!!

Thanks again everyone for all the recommendations. I am going to print this out before we leave and will most definitely check out the places mentioned. I know that Boudro's will be a definite stop as I have also read about their guacamole. I'm so excited!!

I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" for your San Antonio suggestions. We got back yesterday and had a wonderful time. Boudro's, Mi Tierra, Oro and County Line BBQ were some of the places we tried. Boudro's had the best homemade guacamole. Oro was a great restaurant that had the most wonderful Lobster Risotto. We visited the Alamo, El Mercado and La Villita. Great suggestions! Thanks again!
