I'm trying to post pictures of this model house we really liked. It has some good ideas, and I thought it would be fun to share. However, I just can't figure out how to get the pictures on here! Oh well, sorry everyone.

Are these pictures on your digital camera? If so, just download onto your own hard drive on your own computer. Then come here to post and go down to Additional Options, hit manage attachments and then find your picture to attach (make sure it is jpg file) and then attach. You might find that you have to make the picture smaller.
Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Thanks Lisa for helping her. :)

you have to host your pictures on a website before posting them. You can use www.photobucket.com it is free and a great site...VERY easy to use as well
Sign up, using pictures saved on your computer you can download them to photobucket and get a URL then you will copy the URL and do the around the URL

of course this is Huskies Stadium not a house or decorating...one of the only I had on there to post for an example.

This is really WAY to hard. Why can't we post pictures here anymore? Is that further punishment? No editing, no pictures.

Well, I am trying again, but the upload takes a really long time, and I'm only getting the top half of the picture. Hmmm.. . Oh well.

So, how did you do it?

I tried to upload a folder from my PC to the photobucket site. It took a long time and then came out just the top half (weird), so I'll try again. It would be fun to be able to share ideas from the houses we are looking through...

I've had that same problem with photobucket. Try picturetrail.com and see if it's any easier. http://www.picturetrail.com/
Capucine, I could view your link.

I know the link works. I wanted the picture to appear in my post. Like we used to be able to do here. :(

You have to choose a single photo for that to work. Right click on the photo, open Properties, highlight, copy, then paste using the Insert Image icon (second row, 5th from the right).
Here's one from your link.

That should have read "highlight the Address (URL), copy, then paste...."

I don't really understand. I thought that was basically what I did.
It's way, way, way, too hard. To think how simple it used to be.

You copied the URL from the link, not a single photo. Play around with it a little. It's really easy once you get the hang of it.
Practice with your avatar. Right click on it. Click on Properties. Highlight, then copy the URL. Bring it to a Reply to Thread box and open the Insert Image icon. Paste and voila!

I use Picturetrail.com and it provides you with the URL needed to post pictures to forums -

Yes, that's right. If you're not using a picture hosting site like Picturetrail.com, then follow Charley's steps above.

So, are you saying that you can load them from your own hard drive somehow? I'd rather do it that way.

Still doesn't work. I give up.
Used to be so great to see pictures of things others had done to their homes here. I guess those days are gone forever.

I'm not sure what you're doing or how you're coming up with at the end of your URL.
I right clicked on your red X, then clicked on Properties. Copied the URL (deleting the [IMG] at the end of it) and pasted it in the Insert Image box here.

You want to make sure that you have before the URL and after the URL. Double check there are no stray characters and no missing characters.
The Insert Image icon automatically puts before and after the URL. Some picture hosting sites like Picturetrail also insert the and making for a double set of them. I always have to delete one stray set of [IMG] before and one after the URL before submitting my post.

Thank you Jean. It's still a whole lot harder than it used to be. Which is a shame.

You are welcome, Capucine. I'm glad it worked! I agree that it's harder than it used to be. And that's mostly 'cause we can't just upload them from our hard drive directly - a limitation of this site, I guess.

If you have a lot of pictures to post I definently suggest putting them on a free album site and putting the link. If you have one picture on your hard drive it can be uploaded directly to this site. I have done it many, many times. SL has not limited us on that. You just might have to resize it.

How do you do it directly from your hard drive Lisa?

:) I am bumping this up so I don't have to continually "search" for this thread. I used to post many, many pics on the old board but cannot seem to do it know. :)
