Default November Book Thread

Mary- I hope you don't mind, but I had to start this month's book thread as I am just so excited to tell you what came in the mail yesterday!! Karen White's new book, The Girl on Lagare Street. I pre-ordered it from B&N and it came yesterday, it won't even be in bookstores until Tuesday.

I have already read about 6 chapters... in between the trick or treaters. Today is a cold rainy day, so I am thinking that I should have some good reading time!

Good idea, calla, on starting the November thread and on spending most of the day reading! We're having rainy weather so I think I will do the same thing! I have Vince Flynn's latest...Pursuit of Honor.

ETA: I finished the Deborah Crombie book...Necessary as Blood and thought it was good. I like her books but they are better if you read them in the order they are written.

Default Patrick Swayzee Bio

I received the Swayzee bio last week and I'm enjoying its "down home' earthy read. He doesn't pull any punches about his formative years in Houston and New York and, finally, "Tinsel Town" L.A.. I would recommend picking up a copy if you desire an easy, captivating read of an 80's icon. MAL

Thanks for starting our thread, callalily. That honor should go to who gets here first!
It sounds like you have a great book to look forward to reading.

MA, I now have Pursuit of Honor in my hands! I'll start tonight!

Marcia, I haven't read that book yet. It was on the best seller list in our paper and I hope to read it soon.

Happy reading!

You really should read "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton. It looks like it would take forever to read, but the story is so compelling that you won't be able to put it down.

Scarlettedouble, read The Forgotten Garden and it was just like you said. I was actually sad when it was over because it was so good but glad too because I needed to get on with other stuff! I am now reading The House at Riverton by Kate Morton.

I am also being sent an advanced copy of Reporting for Doodie by a grandmother who is taking care of her grandson while her daughter and son-in-law are deployed in Iraq. She is donating a portion of her proceeds through Veterans Day to Soldiers' Angels Valour IT Project to provide technology to wounded troops. Check it out. There is more information and a link to donate to Valour IT on my blog.

I loved "The House at Riverton" too. Just finished that one last week and I am still thinking about that book.

Just finished The House at Riverton. One that you will remember. Sorry that Kate Morton doesn't have more. I'm going to pick up The Thirteenth Tale tomorrow. Anyone read that? It sounded pretty interesting. Also, Danielle Steele's Echos. Not been a big fan of DS but this one sounded interesting.
