What is this flower?!
its from a tree in a neighbors yard. id say the tree is about 8 ft tall? the flowers just started blooming. ive googled flowering trees and autumn blooms but havent had any luck. DH kept thinking hibiscus without seeing the flower upclose. i kept saying it wasnt because the blooms stay live for more than a day unlike a hibiscus and hasnt bloomed all year until now. i finally went over yesterday and picked the flowers to see. it has a stamen like a hibiscus. i found double hibiscus on the internet. thats the closest thing ive found that looks like it but im not for sure.
i woke up this morning and the white flower is now completely pink like the other one in the picture. so what is it?! i didnt pay attention to the leaves either so dont ask about those! i'm plannin on goin over today and taking another look and a picture of the whole thing for a more detailed help.

Looks like a camellia. They bloom around this time every year. One of my favorites! It is a large shrub and will have glossy dark green leaves.

It looks like what is sometimes called a Confederate Rose - not actually a rose, but a member of the Hibiscus family. My mother in law used to call it Florida Cotton. I have one in my back yard. I can't remember if mine comes on white and changes to pink then rose colored, or vice versa.

We got ours from Louisiana and everyone down there calls it a Confederate Rose. I'm seeing them more now then I did here in Alabama and everyone I talk to up calls them the same thing!
