Soldiers' Angels are on the scene assessing the needs of the victims and their families.
RIGHT NOW: Collecting encouraging cards and NEW stuffed animals for the families and children of the injured/killed. Please send cards and stuffed animals (and anything NEW that may brighten the life of a child) to:
Soldiers’ Angels
4408 PanAm Expressway
San Antonio, TX 78218
I'll be posting on my blog any updates on what we can do to help (in addition to praying for the victims and their families).

I really don't know what the answer is, and have debated this strenuously with DH (USAF Vet of 29 1/2 years)! In situations like this I am a firm advocate in an 'eye for an eye' approach, and I'm not particularly proud of myself for thinking that way, but just thinking of all the families of the victims, the wives, husbands, children, mothers, fathers, siblings and even a life unborn make me think that if it were me, I would want whomever responsible for the death of one of my kinfolk to suffer the same demise!!

And now some head honcho in his religious group is praising the shooter! Gimme a break. What message does this send to the rest of the world? We're so careful of everyone else that we can't even defend our own without hurting someone's feelings.

Absolutely right and that's the problem - America has become (or maybe has always been) 'politcally correct' - nobody wants to hurts anybody elses feelings - what with prayer no longer being allowed in schools, no Christmas parties, no Halloween parties, etc.etc.etc. what is happening to this country??? In my younger days if you didn't want your feelings hurt, you just didn't attend or participate in a particular event, but let others celebrate the way they wish - thus, no offence taken by anyone.
