Default Kitchen Color

Please tell me the color of your kitchen!!! This all started this morning when I was cleaning the kitchen for the arrival of our new refrigerator. Hubby came in (not helping with the cleaning I might add) and made the statement that our kitchen
needs a new paint job - he'd never liked the pale yellow that is in there anyway - never mentioned this before, why now?! Without agreeing with him aloud - I was also thinking I was a tad tired of looking at it myself. But don't know what color to go with. We have a TINY kitchen with white appliances and white cabinets. I would love some suggestions!

3 years ago when we bought this house we did some remodeling. We took out the orange, green and gold kitchen carpeting and put in laminate flooring in a really light color. (Which has proved to be a darn big job keeping it clean) At that time I painted the entire kitchen a color called "Brandied Pears" which turned out to be just another shade of white. SO stark. Our countertop is old, but I love it. It's yellow, one of my favorite colors. Several months after the initial painting I brought home a can of paint called "Baha'i Grass" (green). It's a bit brighter than I had hoped for, but pretty. I painted the walls underneath the upper cupboards and the lower cupboard the green. The trim on the doors and windows is "white". I really like my what amounts to, white green and yellow kitchen. I think that if you are like me and spend a lot of time in your kitchen you have to choose colors you love or at least really like. What colors does your DH and family like? I wanted to do the kitchen in yellow, but DS#1 said he really doesn't like yellow. (Wait til he sees the laundry room when I get ti done this summer!!) I'm anxious to see what you'll choose.

Sunflower, ozsmom asked you the same question I ask all my clients...what do you like? What works for you? I love my job and I love to pick and choose colors and fabrics, but I'm a firm believer in individuals getting something they will be comfortable with over a period of time..day by day. The thought does come to my mind that if you have a 'tiny' kitchen with white cabinets and white appliances, would you like a darker color for that little extra 'oomph'..that would offset the white. I've seen a beautiful tiny little kitchen painted red with white cabinets/appliances. Green would work as well. If you like the French Country look, a darker yellow with accents of blue and green would be beautiful. I'll bet you pick a great color, do that decorating and love the results. Let us know what you decide.

I had my kitchen done in sunshine yellow and used blue accents and loved it. But last year I was ready for a change. I have a collection of pink milkglass. I painted the walls chocolate and used the pink accents. As others have said, choose something you like. Look through some old Southern Livings for ideas.
