Default What's on your to-do list?

I always have things that we need to do around the house. Unfortunately I get very overwhelmed and sometimes end up doing nothing. My DH is a procrastinator and well... our list has become long.

We need to repaint inside. Our house is 10 years old and it is time to freshen up a bit. Neither of us likes to paint. I want to hire someone to start tomorrow; DH wants to think about it.

We have done most of our landscaping ourselves over the last 10 years. I have one last section of the yard that desperately needs attention. I kind of know what I want, but I am hiring a designer to draw up a plan. I have found that it is usually a waste of time (and money) to put in random plants and beds without a full plan first.

There are more items on my list, but these are the most pressing. If I can get these two items finished by October, I will feel like I have succeeded.

What's on your to-do list?

What's NOT on my to-do list would be more accurate. We moved into our home last September - and as you know, after you buy a new home you are broke. So all of our to-do's have to wait until we have the moola. But one of my big things that I would like right now is a out-building so I can get all the junk out of the garage and put my car(s) in it. Oh and then there's window treatments, dining room furniture, finishing the landscaping . . .

OK is this MY to do list or HIS to do list?

I try to keep all of my projects to a size that I can manage on my own. I've hired a landscaper once upon a time, he did an ok job. Now I wing that on my own. My to do list includes repainting the "big" bathroom. Maybe before fall gets here.

As for his to do list, maybe it should be entitled his to FINISH list. We don't want to get started on those darn french doors that have been a pain in my patoot for so long so those will go without saying.
Then there is the ceiling fan on the front porch. A beautiful fan, with a lovely light fixture that has been hanging around up there forever, WITHOUT THE WIRING.
The bathroom door stop that I've only been waiting 16 years for.
Oh and then there is the small matter of the shingles for the deck and sunroom. Black paper can only hold up for so long before it begins to leak ! !

I am at times most surprised that my children were born with arms and legs.

It is so nice to hear that there are other lists like mine! Makes me feel like I am not alone. It's all a function of time and money. If you want it done quick, it will take a lot of money. If you want to do it on a budget, it will take more time. Sigh....

How right you are Scarlett, how right you are. I keep hoping I hit the lottery so I can get all the stuff done! LOL.

That's me to a T! I have to go back to school in a couple of weeks and I've not accomplished anywhere near everything on my to-do list. I want to clean out and reorganize my pantry, clean out and organize a large upstairs closet, and several other things like that.

I got a recommendation for someone who (hopefully) can get grease stains off my garage floor, then stain it in a "cloudy" finish. I plan to call him this week to come out and give me an estimate and check his availability for my timeframe -- before my son heads off to Dallas in about a month to finish school. It will be a *huge* undertaking to empty the garage (my son's job!), but I think I will love a fresh floor and walls. While I may not be as actively involved as on some projects, I'll have to keep a close eye on my son, who always wants to donate or throw away a lot more than I do. (I *need* all those paint cans in case I need to touch up something . . . )

Have you tried putting kitty litter on the grease stains?

My to-do list I can manage if I work at it. DH's to-do list seldom gets touched. I usually get busy on any project that centers in the kitchen but tend to let others go. I do have a bath that I will get painted before the end of the summer.
