Default disguising utility box

I have a utility box I want to make into a message center by disguising the box with moldings around the box and attaching a door to the front so when you open the new door the utility box is intact underneath. I saw it in a magazine and I thought it was Southern Living. Did anyone else see it? It was a weekend project.

Hi. I don't visit this site often, but I noticed your post today and immediately knew the article you were speaking of. I have it, along with another from SL on this subject, stuck to my huge gray utility box. One of these days.....

One article called "Power Undercover" is on page 148 of the September 2000 issue and shows a grouping of four framed pictures made into one, that covers the utility box door.

The other article is called "Convenient Cover-up" and shows a frame made around the box that sticks out from the wall and has a door, the top half of which is a bulletin board and the bottom half of which is a chalkboard. It's on page 138, but I don't know the month. I think it's from 2004 or later, though.

I hope this will be helpful somehow.

Did something similar at a previous house, but used a small curtain to cover the box. Mounted the curtain on a track that wrapped around the box.
