Default Experience applying grasscloth on ceiling??

I'm redecorating our sunroom. Would like to put grasscloth or something similar on ceiling between the coffers. My husband, a contractor, is discouraging me. Says putting paper overhead will be difficult. I think the effect will be worth the effort. Any experience doing this???? Or other suggestions???

Welcome, marlammorgan! I had Anaglypta hung on my powder room ceiling with no problem. While probably not as heavy as grasscloth, it may come close by the time it's painted. The one thing my paperhangers said was that heavy wallpaper should be pasted with the proper paste -- even prepasted.

Hi Sandra C,
I've used anaglypta for boarders in my dining and bedroom. Also above chairrail in foyer. Love it.
Hubby seems more open to the idea now. He's always been one to apply paste even to prepasted wallpaper. We're both concerned about seeing seams though. Think I'll research and see how wide I can find some. Wonder if I could use 60 inch burlap or similar material??? Think I'll investigate that too.

I have grasscloth in my dining room and a similar, but finer silk weave in my powder room, and both are 36" wide. I don't know if that's standard or just coincidence.

Burlap might work, depending on what you'd be pasting it to. It could be smelly once it gets wet, and the raw edges might ravel if you're not careful. I wonder if you could spray it with heavy-duty starch to give it more body?
