Default Cabinet Handle Question

Please help me settle a little argument between DH and I. I painted our powder room vanity black after replacing the top with a new granite top from Home Depot. It looks so much better! I bought new handles for the faux drawers and cabinet doors, they are the kind that have a curve to them, so they curve downward on the drawers, but how would we install them on the doors? I say it would be just like we would be driving a car, if you grasp the handles downwards when they are on the drawer fronts, then you would be driving the car with your hands on the steering wheel at 11:00 and 1:00, so then you would put the handles on the doors as though you were driving the car with your hands at 9:00 and 3:00, with the curves of the handles facing toward each other. DH says it should be the opposite, because you can get more of your hand into the handle when you open the cabinet door. This is a powder room vanity, for goodness sake! It's not like we are going to going to be opening it daily, but I want it to look right. I've seen pictures on decorating blogs with them going both ways, but usually the way that I think they should go.

What do you ladies think? We need to know because it will matter when he drills the holes for the handles (they're a different size than the old handles, so I had to fill them before I painted the doors).

Thank you for any input!

If I understand your description, I would position them with the "downward" side "outward." You could try them both ways to see what looks/feels best -- the screws and holes are the same distance apart, it will just be a matter of which way you turn the handles.

Well, here's my two cents...

If this is the biggest thing you all have to worry about, please come to my house.

I promise I could find you all kinds of things to do.

Thank you, Southern Thunder. I won't bother asking any more questions here in the decorating forum. For some reason, I thought this is what it was here for.

Yes, that's what it's here for and I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, I was just trying to make a joke, hence the winking emoticon.
