I think that Sandra is correct in calling the plant in question Dusty Miller which is actually a form of succulent that grows well in southern gardens. MAL

It certainly looks like what google is telling me a dusty miller is; but google is also telling me it's an annual! When I bought it I thought it was a perinnel! Oh well, live and learn. Next year it'll be a container plant....Thanks for all your input!

It is supposed to be an annual, but here in SC our climate is warm enough that it comes back every year.

According to my boyfriend who is a landscape architect, it is Dusty Miller. Even though it is considered an annual in most places, it can be perennial if it is in a protected area, usually only lasting 3-4 years.

dusty millers are so hardy I had them in my garden and they survived the frost.
