Happy Thanksgiving Day, 11-26-09
Good morning to everyone who finds time to drop in When you get some time, why not post what your final meal plan for today was! We're staying traditional so hubby is outside at the smoker ready to put Tom on for his smoking experience. We're also having cornbread dressing, giblet gravy, baked sweet potatoes, fresh green beans, seasoned collards, fresh cranberry sauce and baked cranberries. Dessert is homemade pumpkin pie with sweetened whipped cream. Looks like I'm feeding an army but there will be just us 4 here this year. Have a blessed and safe day everyone!!

There's only 3 of us and Dad has to work the afternoon so we're eating early.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
DH and I are in between the cooking and going to my SIL's for dinner. She is making the turkey, along with the stuffing, roasted root veggies and the mashed potatoes. DH and I made a salad, wild rice stuffing (for those of us who cannot eat anything with gluten) and a cranberry/orange relish with a splash of grand marnier. I am bringing a pecan pie with a bourbon whipped cream and gluten free double chocolate brownies with a dark chocolate ganache.
There will be 14 people for dinner this year. We will be eating around 4 PM.
Have a great day.

Our "final" menu is: deep fried turkey (as I'm still only using the "easy bake" oven ), ham with pineapple cherry glaze (done in the electric roaster), stuffing (in the slow cooker, which I think is how I'll always do it from here on out), corn casserole/pudding, mashed potatoes and turkey gravy (which turned out swesome!), green bean casserole, plain red jello and pumpkin roll for dessert. DDIL is bringing a cheeseball and they'll be here any minute. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I was in charge of the Turkey!
A few years ago I made my very first turkey for my bible study group at church, I cooked it rather long on a lower heat (cant remember temp) but it came out so moist and delicious, I even had compliments few compliments that surprised me, the most memorable one being "this is by far the best turkey I have ever eaten!".
Well I tried again this year for my girlfriends family and I even surprised my self, when I pulled this turkey out of the oven I was so proud I actually started to get tears in my eyes, IMO it was a site of prefection, heres a picuture:
This turkey even had a person that did not like turkey eating it, and he loved it so much he went back for seconds, thirds, and fourths!
Just wanted to share my pride with you all.
