Kids grow up so fast—and there’s so much in the South you want them to experience! What are the top places you feel you MUST take your kids in our South? And what are some of the memorable Southern places your parents took you when you were a child?

StoryLand in New Orleans, LA!

New Orleans is not typically a place thought of for children, but my sister and I went here when we were kids, and it is about as magical a place as you can get.

Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. It is great for kids and families!

Just had our 2 1/2 yr grandson visit us in Chattanooga, Tn for a week. Wonderful place for kids - we took him to Rock City, rode the Incline Railway, visited the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Musuem, and finished the week at the Tennessee Railroad Musuem spending the day with Thomas the Train! We all had a wonderful time and made wonderful memories. There was still lots to do for another time!

Our kids love St. Loius-zoo, Grants Farm, museums, baseball games.

We also love Gatlinburg-picnic in Cades Cove, climing on rocks at the Chimneys, Dollywood, aquarium, Ripley's, Ober Gatlinburg. I recommend the fall when the leaves change or early spring when everything is in bloom. It's a beautiful drive. Stay in Townsend. It's great.

Every southern child should visit Charleston. This will be one of the most fascinating places they will ever visit. This wonderful town has an incredible history, great food, culture and so much more.

• An Atlanta Braves game at Turner Field
• The Grand Ole Opry
• Beach-front vacation in any town on the Gulf Coast
• Disney World
• Washington, D.C.
• Neyland Stadium while packed with 107,000 orange-clad fans
• The Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama
• Any Civil War battlefield
• Their grandparents' home

My dad had to travel to small towns a lot due to his job, and in the summer we'd go with him (we didn't care where we were as long as the motel had a pool ). I appreciate now that we were able to visit so many small towns in the South. Each have unique attributes, quirks, and characters--or did back then. Most towns now look, sound, and act the same as the next town.
